About Cornerstones
Pam Riedy and Mary Jane Huber first began working together at Glenview Community Church/United Church of Christ. While initiating the Workshop Rotation program there under Mary Jane’s leadership, they were founding members of a network of churches in the Chicago area that simply wanted to share ideas. The network put out a newsletter and began organizing a national conference. Within two months, it had drawn 200 people from all over the country.
At that conference, people asked Pam and Mary Jane for the curriculum they had written for their church. They soon realized that they did not have to go to a denominational publishing house, risking the mutations that would take place when an editor has to work within a defined template. So, they launched Cornerstones and became their own publisher.
The immediate benefit that they had not anticipated initially was that they could do what no other curriculum company could do: let the customer customize the purchase of lessons to the needs of his/her own individual church. Cornerstones printed on command for several years, and then went to a CD format, offering the same customized fit and making it available to customers within minutes. God has opened many doors for this to happen.
